Why not? half the guys I run with Surf Fish for big trout and summer time comes a new breed of fisherman that pull out a "War Hat" arsenal of weapons. A breed of fisherman that love the surf as much as I do. We all know what the surf holds it's not the typical Texas Trio of species found in the bays. It could be a big trout to a occasional beach front Tarpon out in the pocket of Bolivar with the looming South Jetty on the horizon.
Kick off to stellar year so far with the yesterday fading fast into the log book.
Arrived West of Galveston to wait at a sun up location for friend to catch up. We had just polished off some Whataburger on Stewart. The morning was slow to roll off right with small terminal issues I was having with leaders. So no need to explain that mishap as I file it away in the never do it again folder. The day drug on in a spike camp set in the surf with no fish. We moved on after dragging up the surf rods to set a drive up to N.E. of location previously at.
Here are the results from a quick change in rules.
A beach front Drum is hard to beat on med tackle ( soft spoken on the word medium). Mother nature treated this man with a good taste of what Texas has to provide via the surf. This is just a couple pics of many but the ones I thought suited best.
